ROSALÍA and Ralphie Choo Unite for “Omega” in a Fusion of Flamenco and Modern Beats

ROSALIA AND RALPHIE CHOO JOIN FORCES IN “OMEGA”

Wrapped in a cloud of mysticism and expectation, with an unexpected premiere and in kitsch ensemble, Omega, the new featuring between ROSALÍA and Ralphie Choo, has been released as one of the most anticipated Spanish musical events of the past few months. Speculations had been chasing both artists for almost a year due to Ralphie Choo’s similarities in style to ROSALÍA’s, based on merging flamenco with bossa, samba, pop, R&B and reggaeton rhythms. However, it was not until last Sunday night that the Spanish world-renowned singer materialized the upcoming project in which both artists would join forces through an Instagram post based on an acapella Whatsapp audio.

The announcement, launched barely 24 hours in advance, caused a high and expected stir in social media. Almost just as big as the one induced by the Catalonian singer, who decided to premiere the song at the La Mercé festivities, honoring her roots and giving the audience gathered in the streets of Barcelona the honor of hearing the song for the first time whilst they enjoyed the pyromusical show that marks the end of the 2024 festivities with a magical firework display. Amidst the inevitable din, Omega debuted in the streets of Barcelona, to be then finally available for the rest of the world just a few hours later.

The track, far from resembling the euphoria portrayed in the announcement released a few days ago, talks about fated and irrevocable romantic stressed love using the ballad format. This, ironically, evokes a roller coaster of emotions fed by a sound feud between the delirious guitars that wrap the female voice, and the autotune that dominates Choo's vocals. Which basically turns the track into another exemplification of the superhuman talent available in the Spanish music industry.

ROSALIA, who's latest release was a featuring in BLACKPINK LISA’s New Woman, seems to be following a very similar format to the one chosen in her “break” period between “El Mal Querer” and “MOTOMAMI”; which, added to all the images taken inside of different recording studios, could indicate that she is preparing a possible fourth album. On the other hand, Ralphie Choo is gradually making his way onto a wider audience who, despite knowing him as a singer and creator in “SUPERNOVA”, will also discover him as a producer and collaborator in important local artist’s projects, such as Amaia’s future album “Si abro los ojos no es real”.

ROSALÍA’s talent and impact has been opening new frontiers in Spanish and Catalan music for years, and its combination with Ralphie Choo's success and latest work makes this an infallible tandem with a secret formula to turn into an instant classic and leave a historical legacy with new sounds imported from the Peninsule.
