Fousheé Announces ‘Pointy Heights’ Album, Embracing Jamaican Roots with New Reggae-Infused Sound

New Jersey singer-songwriter Fousheé will release her second album, ‘Pointy Heights,’ on September 13th via RCA Records, inspired by her Jamaican heritage and diverging from the punk feel of her debut. The album's lead single, ‘Still Around,’ encapsulates this new direction with its reggae-infused sound and visuals shot in Jamaica.

New Jersey singer-songwriter Fousheé is set to release her highly anticipated second album, ‘Pointy Heights,’ on September 13th via RCA Records. The album announcement is accompanied by the release of the single ‘Still Around,’ which features a golden-hued, buoyant visualizer shot in Pointy Heights, Jamaica. This album, named after land her grandfather purchased in Jamaica, marks a personal and creative homecoming for Fousheé, paying homage to her roots.

Fousheé was initially working on songs for her next project when she decided to revisit Jamaica, a place she hadn't been since she was six years old. This trip inspired her to abandon her previous work and start fresh, incorporating the music of her heritage into her new sound and songwriting direction.

‘Pointy Heights’ represents a significant shift from the grizzled punk feel of her 2022 debut album ‘softCORE,’ which was characterized by down-tuned and riff-based rock. In contrast, her new album embraces her instinctual love of reggae, featuring rich, crackling bass lines, spangly guitar parts, and rollicking, sharp drum sounds.

Following the release of ‘softCORE,’ Fousheé achieved significant success, including winning a Grammy for her contribution to Steve Lacy’s hit ‘Bad Habit’ and touring globally with him. She also capped off the year with a critically acclaimed NPR Tiny Desk performance.

‘Pointy Heights’ promises to be a deeply personal and musically rich project, reflecting Fousheé’s journey back to her roots and her evolution as an artist.
