Charli XCX and Troye Sivan Drop New Summer Remix, Hint at Future Collaborations

Charli XCX has released a summer remix of "Talk Talk" featuring Troye Sivan, sparking rumors of a potential collaboration with Dua Lipa. The remix features a fresh, electronic twist and sets the stage for their upcoming "SWEAT Tour" while hinting at future projects.

In an attempt to hold on to the last crumbs of brat summer, Charli XCX has released her fifth and final summer-remix alongside Troye Sivan. A featuring between both artists was a matter of time, as they have become working partners due to their next joint-project “SWEAT Tour”, and share a really close relationship, as showed on social media. And since the ratio of artists invited to the brat party always allows a +1, the Talk Talk featuring Troye Sivan could’ve also featured Dua Lipa’s singing.

Their possible partnership raised some confusing headlines over the past few days, as social media posts from the three artists announcing a double collaboration in remix boosted the multi-featuring rumors. However, the Anglo-Albanian silenced the allegations by expressing her gratitude for having been able to make a small contribution to the track just 24 hours prior to its release.

Such “small contribution” has, in fact, been one of the main reasons why people were so eager towards the possibility of a legendary feature between two of the currently biggest British music referents; another marketing top-tier strategy from Charli XCX’s team. In the end, her participation has been limited to a few audios speaking Spanish and French at the beginning and end of the track, adding character and playing with figuralism, as the chorus then goes on to state “Talk to me in Spanish, talk to me in French”. And also leaves the door opened for a possible future feature.

The sum of these three forces has resulted in a track that, despite having already been a fan favorite among the album and celebrated its third month on the market, sounds fresh. And even better than the original. All the collaborations in the album differ from their originals mostly in lyrical modifications, and the occasional tweak to the base. However, it is possible to baptize Talk Talk featuring Troye Sivan as the most groundbreaking among the present ones.

The base becomes somehow faster thanks to a more electronic beat, leaving very limited traces of what the song once was, more focused on a pop rhythm accessible to most of the audience.

The intention of the song also challenges its primitive purpose, displaying a lot more confidence and sexiness than the original, as well as working more as a second act of the scenario, rather than a version of it. In this featuring, Troye’s storyline shines brighter than Charli’s, as he behaves as the main character inside of a secret homosexual situationship. Sivan, who worked with Charli in 2019 with 1999, is currently embarking on a tour alongside the singer in “SWEAT”, a joint production around North America in which both artists are expected to perform their greatest hits.

The Australian has expressed his gratitude towards Charli in multiple occasions, mentioning how bewildering it is to work besides an artist with a range similar to hers, and how his life changed when they met each other at a house party in her kitchen.

And because this summer’s course has proven that, at least for Charli XCX, good news travel faster, and brat is basically a state of mind, the singer has announced that a deluxe version of the album will be released under brat and it’s completely different but also still brat. Which basically sums up the vibe brought to the table by her featuring with Sivan, and doesn’t beat the allegations of a possible “brat autumn”.

These new versions will be released on October 11th and, for the time being, the songs are only known as Track 2-15. Brat never ends. It reinvents itself.
