GEORGE DANIEL (THE 1975) TO LEAD DH2 MUSIC IMPRIMIT Dirty Hit.

the independent record label responsible for The 1975’s everlasting alternativesynth pop-indie sound, has announced the creation of a new electronic music imprint under the name “dh2”. Due to the uprising of hyper pop and electronic music by English artists, Dirty Hit has created a new music imprint for electronic music specifically lead by George Daniel; best known as The 1975’s drummer and main producer since 2002.

The announcement was unexpectedly made overnight through an Instagram post, followed by an already scheduled launch party to present the upcoming project as George Daniel’s first solely handled project. dh2 will be part of Dirty Hit, the London based independent record label responsible for some of UK’s best music publishing, manufacturing, distribution, marketing and promotion.

Which means that, under Dirty Hit’s management, dh2 (and more specifically, George Daniel) will work as a partner and leading man in the creation process and artistic area of the electronic music projects selected by the label. Just like a bass in any pop classic, George Daniel’s impact has been dramatically imprinted in electro-indie anthems with a disguise that might make him look like an emerging producer, when in truth he has successfully been making music better and cooler for more than a decade.

His footprint can be appreciated in Touching Yourselve (The Japanese House), He Gets Me So High (beabadoobee), Somebody Else (The 1975), or Apple by Charlie XCX, the brat summer anthem about generational trauma that has turned into an instant classic. dh2 is expected to work with renowned artists who, taking the imprint’s orientation into account, decide to immerse themselves in electronic music. The first stone in Daniel’s project will be played by Kelly Lee Owens, the Welsh producer whose next LP (Dreamstate) creation process will be handled under the new imprint.

Furthermore, rumor has it that Matty Healy’s solo career may start sooner rather than later with dh2 and the production of fellow colleague George Daniel, as fans have been speculating through an Instagram comment in one of the imprint’s posts that The 1975’s leader liked. dh2’s dh2 was officially baptazied last July 11th at a launch party at Brixton’s Phonox Club through a DJ set that included Kelly Lee Owens, Oscal Farrel and Tim From The House’s performances alongside Daniel’s. Now everyone will want to dance with George for sure.
