Ke$ha Plans to Alter "TiK ToK" Lyrics Amidst Controversy and Legal Battle Over Music Rights.

Ke$ha announced plans to re-record her hit song "TiK ToK" for its 15th anniversary, changing the iconic opening line due to recent allegations against rapper P. Diddy. However, legal battles with producer Dr. Luke currently prevent her from making this change.

Following the 15-year anniversary of TiK ToK, singer Ke$ha has decided to change the lyrics to one of internet’s most beloved songs from the 2000s. Ever since her performance along Renné Rapp in Coachella, word spread that the opening line to one of all-time most popular songs globally would suffer from changes.

But it wasn’t until last August 7th, when Ke$ha officially announced that, honoring the 15- year anniversary of her most successful musical event, she was going to re-record the song and effectively change the starting line from “Wake up in the morning feeling like PDiddy” to “Wake up in the morning like “F*** P-Diddy””.

The reasoning behind the alteration comes from the sex trafficking accusations against rapper Sean Combs, commonly referred to as “P Diddy”, known for being “the life of the party” back in the day.

Ke$ha confirmed that the lyrics came to mind after she woke up surrounded by “hot girls” after a night out, an activity that became almost a habit for the rapper. However, the popstar felt the need to change them following the sex trafficking and exploitation allegations made against the rapper in 2023, including those of his former partner Casandra Ventura.

The CNN published a video from 2016 showing Combs chasing his girlfriend around a hotel in Los Angeles, throwing her to the ground and beating her, which eventually developed in a series of women speaking up about their experiences with him, all including physical and sexual violence.

Nevertheless, due to her open-war situation with producer Dr.Luke for over a decade, Ke$ha cannot change TiK ToK’s opening line until she gains the rights to her music back, which are still under Dr.Luke’s ownership and with no expiration date to look forward to.
